Meet the Doctors

Frank L. Higginbottom, DDS

Dr. Higginbottom has been creating beautiful smiles for 44 years, and has no intention of stopping anytime soon. He attended the University of Oklahoma and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Baylor College of Dentistry. Graduating with honors in 1971, he won the silver medal for Academic and Clinical Excellence. Today he holds the faculty position of Associate Clinical Professor in the Departments of Oral Surgery and Prosthodontics, and has made a weekly commitment to work with dental residents in Baylor’s Clinic. Dr. Higginbottom also holds a position at University of Texas Health Science Center, lectures nationally and internationally, and has had several articles published in dental literature. Dr. Higginbottom has a wonderful wife, as well as a son who is a pastor and a daughter who is his fellow dentist. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and teaching.

Richard Derksen, DMD, MS

Dr. Derksen has been a partner at the practice for three years, with six years in the dental field. He attended Southern Methodist University, where he earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. After working as a consultant for three years in Washington, D.C., he decided that his true desire was to be a dentist. He graduated from Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine and went on to earn a Masters in Science and Certificate in Prosthodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry. He was board certified in Prosthodontics in 2014. His favorite thing about his job is the interaction he gets to have with his patients, as well as being able to work with his hands.

Dr. Derksen and his wife welcomed twins (a boy and a girl) in early 2015. When he has free time, he enjoys playing golf, skiing, playing ice hockey with his father, and learning to play the guitar.

Kimberly Higginbottom Fesler, DDS

Dr. Fesler has been with the practice for 14 years. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Episcopal School of Dallas before earning her Bachelor of Science from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She then went on to achieve her Doctor of Dental Surgery at Baylor College of Dentistry. She was also a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society, and was named to the Dean’s Honor List upon her graduation. Her favorite thing about her job is that she’s able to provide real relief to people who are nervous, scared, or in pain, and of course she also loves working with her father, Dr. Higginbottom, at every opportunity.

Dr. Fesler’s husband is an orthodontist in Murphy, and together, they have three children. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys doing yoga, gardening, and reading. She also likes to raise Monarch butterflies and release them each spring. She loves a good science project!
